The county is bordered by the northern prefecture of Fthiotida, west to Fokida prefecture, southeast of the Attica prefecture, east bordering the Evian gulf and south of the Corinthian. The prefecture of Boeotia founded in 1943, after detachment from the hitherto Attica and Boeotia.

Highest peak of Parnassus Liakoura is 2457 m. The classic way to go up to it is the refuge of the Greek Mountaineering Association of Athens, the site Sarantari (height 1900 m). As it reaches very good road from Arachova, a branch continues to the ski resort Fterolakkas and then descends to Amfiklia.
Very close to the shelter is another ski resort, owned by the Athens Group of Friends of Ski. The closest peak is Gerontovrachos (2367 m.), which can go up to 1.30 hour.
The other peaks of the mountain that is over 2000 m are: Kotroni 2428 m, 2414 m Tsarkos, «2402», «2393», «2376», Litharia Black Hole or 2334 m, 2328 m Raidolakka , Eneza 2328 m, 2257 m Arnovrysi, Sesi 2120 m, 2112m Koukos.
