| Skyros is the southernmost island of the Northern Sporades. Located east of Euboea, which lies around 35 km and is the largest island in the Sporades area (210 square. Kms) with a population of 2,602 residents. The island, for the most part, is mostly mountainous in the southeast, where the mountains Kochylou (792 m), arbutus and Piriones Fanoftis. The climate of the island is characterized by very cool summers and mild winters with little rainfall and average annual temperature of 17 degrees Celsius.
