The prefecture of Pella is situated in Greece and Macedonia is the region of Central Macedonia. Bordered to the north by the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to the east with the prefecture of Kilkis in notioanatolika the Thessaloniki prefecture, south of the Laws and Kozani Imathia, and west with the prefecture of Florina.

 The capital of the prefecture is Edessa (or Aigai, ancient capital and holy city of Macedonia) with a population of 18,253 residents in the census of 2001, while the largest city is Giannitsa with 26,296 inhabitants. Other major centers are the towns Cold Fountain with 6,535 residents, with 5,600 residents Aridaia and Skydra with 5801 inhabitants. |
