At a distance of 30 kilometers from the city of Edessa and very close to the ski resort Boras is preserved traditional village of St. Athanasiou (or Tsegani). The village was built in the late 16th century at the foot of the mountain Boras (or Kaimaktsalan) on top Piperitsa to 1200 m, and was once a thriving ranching community until the 70s. Then came the drop until 1995 when the entire village «ravaged» and went to number only two families. The rest either «took of the eyelets», or moved lower in New Saint Athanasios. The ski resort Voras - Kaimaktsalan is 45 km from the city of Edessa and just 16 km from the Old St. Athanasios and ranks among the best ski resorts of Greece, both for the quality of the snow and the long duration ( operates from November to early May). The ski resort is growing in southeastern side of the mountain Voras in altitude from 2050 m to 2480 m. There are 14 tracks, total length 11 km measures: 2 racing, electronic timer, 5 tough runs, 3 runs and 3 runs easy Baby-very easy.
