The county is Fokida region and county in the region of Central Greece. It has an area of 2,120 km ² and a population of 48,284 (Census 2001), while the capital of the prefecture is Amfissa. The economy of the county based on the cultivation of olives in bauxite mining, tourism, production of honey, to fish farming, the livestock and poultry and fisheries. The prefecture of Fokida in Central Greece is located, bordering the eastern prefecture of Viotia, Fthiotida prefecture in the north and west county Etoloakarnania. In the south bordering the Corinthian Gulf.


fokida1It is the most mountainous provinces of Greece with alternating geomorphologic landscape, as it includes four of the highest mountains in the country, the Giona, Parnassos, Vardousia and Oiti with predominantly rocky terrain, while the Lake has Mornos from which water Athens and the olive grove of Amfissa, perhaps the greatest area under olives is today.
