Chania is a city of northwest Crete and the capital of the prefecture of Chania. It occupies an area of about 11 square kilometers and according to the 2001 census has a population of 55,838 inhabitants and is the second largest city of Heraklion on the island. There was considerable Minoan city and identified with the ancient Kydonia.

It is the largest city in western Crete and one of the most beautiful whole island. The Paleochora (or Paliohora whatever you listen to) is on the southwest coast of Crete at a distance 70chlm. from Chania and 200chlm. from Heraklion. It is built on a peninsula between two picturesque bays. It borders the Libyan Sea and fairly considered the "Nymph of the Libyan" and "Country of the sun." It has 2,500 inhabitants and a large number of beds in small hotels and tourist accommodation. It is a place that will not ever hurt. Halepa
