The term is meant the region of Attica, Attica, located in central Greece and in particular occupies the southeastern part of Central Greece. 3808 chlm2 an area covering 2.9% of the total area of the country. It is based in Athens, the administrative capital of Greece and includes essentially only the prefecture of Attica.

 The prefecture of Attica is the most densely populated prefecture of Greece, where it belongs in the capital Athens, and the biggest Greek port, the port city of Piraeus. Geographically the Attica Prefecture is divided into two subsections, the capital region and the rest of Attica. The region includes the capital city of Athens (with Piraeus) and bounded by the Saronic Gulf and the mountains of Parnitha, and the Ymittos Pentelis, defining the Attica basin. The extent of the capital region is 427 chlm2 covers 11.2% of the total area of the Attica region and growing the typical limits of basin area. |
