| Astypalaia (or Astropalia) is an island in the Aegean with 1238 residents in a
sense, the island was named (police + old) residents of the Dorians, who found
traces of the earlier settlement of the Phoenicians. The Astypalaia belongs
administratively to the Dodecanese, but geographically and culturally stands
between the Dodecanese and the Cyclades.

The shores are rocky Astypalaia with bays and
beaches. A small strip of land about 10 kilometers, the Strait, separating the
island into two parts within the island and the outside. In the southeast there
are several small islands such as St. Sunday, the cartilage, the mosquitoes and
the Koutsomytis. In the western isles are Ofidousa, Scallops, and other mice.
The capital and main port of the island is Astropalia or Country. The Astypalaia
connected by sea with Piraeus and other islands of the Dodecanese. The island
airport is also relatively well connected with the airport of Athens and
Rhodes
